Wyse 5020 (Dx0Q), 7010, (Zx0D) 7020 (Zx0Q)

These models of Wyse thin client have an extra SATA port, a 1.25mm spacing header with 5V, a 2.0mm spacing header with 12V, a 9 pin USB 2.0 internal header, and (most interestingly) a 40 pin ZIF FPC header that is a nonstandard PCI-E 2.0 x4.

I have wanted to make a breakout PCB that adapts the 40pin FPC to a M.2 M-key slot, intended to be used with an M.2 to PCI-E riser. Unsure if there is anything I’m not thinking about.

Here is a page that includes a pinout. I have verified that the pinout is shared between the Wyse 7010, 5020 and 7020.

I used the riser from the 7010 extended in one of my 7020 models and it works. Additionally, the motherboard that is used in the 5020 is the same one that is used in the 7020’s quad output model, which includes an extremely weak dedicated GPU connected to this header. Pretty cut and dry.

The Wyse 5060, using a slightly later AMD SoC, has many of these same features on board, but I have never seen them populated in any of the pictures I’ve seen of the internals.
